NAT-TEST vs JLPT – Which One Should You Choose?

Both the JLPT and the NAT-TEST are popular exams for Japanese learners, but which one is right for you?

The JLPT is internationally recognized and essential for scholarships, academic admissions, and professional qualifications. It is held only twice a year (July and December) in most countries.

The NAT-TEST, however, is more flexible. It has multiple test dates throughout the year, allowing students to attempt it more often. Its structure and difficulty are similar to the JLPT, making it an excellent practice exam.

At Japanese Language Camellia, we guide learners in choosing the exam that best matches their goals and timelines. Many students prepare for the NAT-TEST as a stepping stone to the JLPT, gaining experience and confidence before attempting the global standard test.

In short:
Choose JLPT if your goal is university, scholarships, or professional certification.
Choose NAT-TEST if you want frequent exam opportunities and flexible scheduling.
